Jeremy is an angel investor and advisor for various incubators and startups, and the founder of MinOps. He was the founding Reliability Engineer for Netflix and before that he ran ops for reddit as its first engineering hire. Jeremy also tech-edited the highly acclaimed AWS for Dummies. He is a noted speaker in serverless computing, distributed computing, availability, rapid scaling, and cloud computing, and holds a Cognitive Science degree from UC Berkeley.

As someone who was there for Reddit’s initial growth and Netflix’s rapid growth from DVDs by mail to global streaming, Jeremy will tell you the real world stories of how they handled the growth and transition. You’ll learn about how they dealt with moderating a growing user community and scaling their infrastructure with just five engineers at Reddit. You’ll also learn how they completely reformed the engineering teams at Netflix to deal with the transition to and growth of streaming. And lastly, Jeremy will tell you how he’s building his current startup using the lessons he’s learned along the way.
